eRedbook wins BT ‘Connected Society’ award

Date: 10 May 2016

The eRedbook has won the Connected Society award at the BT and Cabinet Office Connected Cities competition, which was created to showcase SME innovation that will make a big difference to cities of the future.

The Connected Society prize is for the SME whose work demonstrates how ICT can help society to operate more sustainably.

The eRedbook is the digital version of the paper-based Personal Child Health Record, more commonly known as the Red book: a parent-held record used to manage a child’s health and development. The digital record provides the same information about a child’s health, immunisations, growth and development, as well as personalised guidance for new parents, including links to videos and information from NHS.uk and local sources – but harnessing the benefits of digital technology to be more accessible, more secure, and more relevant through personalisation.

The eRedbook is designed to be used by healthcare professionals, across multiple healthcare settings such as Midwives, Health Visitors, GPs, Paediatricians and School Nurses. The record also enables clinicians to collaborate over different locations, supporting the seamless coordination of care through the whole healthcare system and saving parents the frustration of having to repeat heath history from service to service.

Daniel Moulin, eRedbook project director, said:

To win the big society award is a fantastic achievement, especially considering the seriously high quality competition.  This award is a really welcome recognition for all the partners and stakeholders who have worked so hard and so well together. Collaboratively many organisation have worked through many complex challenges.  In 2017 all parents across London will be able to access the child’s record online – we hope BT will be able to help us drive adoption across the UK.

The BT Connected Cities competition is sponsored by BT, Milton Keynes and TechHub. The award prize is £7,500 and includes support and mentoring for the winners.
