NHS England has contracted Sitekit to develop, publish and implement the technical messages and standards to deliver the vision set out in the Digital Child Health Strategy. This will enable national implementation of the electronic red book and allow information to flow to and from clinical systems. NHS England is using the Digital Child Health Strategy as the first pathway to adopt the FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) messaging standard.

Sitekit is working with five NHS trusts across London to field test eRedbook. The Personal Child Health Record is being connected to Child Health Information Systems across London to provide accurate up to date health information for parents and reduce administration for health professionals.

NHS England have launched the Integrated Digital Care Fund (IDCF). NHS organisations and local authorities can apply for part of the £240m: £160m available this financial year and £80m next. The fund supports NHS Trusts and NHS Foundation Trusts with the delivery of Integrated Digital Care Records.
